Dance
The Dance course develops and presents ideas through a variety of genres, styles and forms, as it provides a unique way in which to express our cultural view and understanding of the world. Students use a wide range of creative processes to make dance works. They reflect on, respond to and evaluate how dance styles and forms are historically derived and culturally valued. They understand the origins of dance and its importance as a form of expression.
Through participation in the Dance course, students develop transferable skills essential to their future. These include communication skills, collaborative teamwork skills, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, problem solving skills.
Drama
Students at Atwell College study activities of creation, performance and reflection in order to achieve the required outcomes. In order to enable students to work with conventions, technologies and drama forms, they are given the skills to enable them to explore and communicate ideas, they are also exposed to particular processes which enable them to develop in this area.
Through drama, human experience is shared. Drama, communicates, informs, entertains and challenges. Drama is a vibrant and varied art form found in play, storytelling, street theatre, festivals, film, television, interactive games, performance art and theatres. It is one of the oldest art forms. Through taking on roles and enacting real and imagined events, performers engage audiences who suspend their disbelief to enter the world of the drama, drama is used in everyday life.
